Our stay here in Maine has had its share of ups and downs. The trees are changing into more of a fiery pallet of colors as each day goes by. With it, the rain comes – in a torrent, or a drizzle or the threat of one at any moment. Two days ago, with legs aching to hike, we headed to the beach to see a storm. The wind and the wild sea created quite the fascinating scene. I don’t know whether we caught the spray of the enormous waves crashing onto the rocky shoreline or were only wet by the rain itself, but we returned drenched and dragging our feet back to the trailer.
Yesterday, we just couldn’t handle it anymore. We escaped the rainforest and the vomit smell that poor Chicory was adding to the atmosphere, and drove to the library to do school. It was a welcome diversion from the stuffiness. I enjoyed the architecture of the building that still looked good after two hundred years. I thought of the trailer…nine months…it should last that long.
As of today, we are all healthy and well, and the rain inside has finally come to an end. Even though the rain outside continues to drip, we can enjoy it now from windows that are not dripping with condensation. The answer was a third dehumidifier. We have Mini, Midi, and Macho as our constant companions now and the air breathes like we could almost be at home, (except for the smell of the salt and seaweed). We were able to enjoy the bay as the only bit of sunshine slid away in the west, taking some of the dark clouds with it.
