I thought that I was not going to have any pictures to display because it feels like we have been cooped up in the trailer forever. We are parked in a dense forest of trees which drip collected water heavily on the roof along with the steady drops of the incessant rain. The heavy clouds exacerbate the darkness which contrasts so dramatically from the house we left only two months ago. I heard there was rain back home and while I was very happy for you, I was wishing to be back home in the dry weather. Sorry, I stand guilty.
Along with the moisture outside, we have had our share of rain on the inside. Even with the dehumidifier, I feel like I’m living in the Amazon Rainforest. I collect around a half a cup of water off the windows three times a day. On Sunday – the only day we got to hike – we added to the rainforest feel with the camel back (unknowingly) emptying itself on the floor through the tube while it was getting filled. Door mat One went outside to be dried (which didn’t happen before it rained again). Immediately after , while filling another water bottle, I dropped the entire amount of water in the water filter onto the floor. Needless to say, I even had to unscrew some of the trailer to get all the water out and change my clothes. We managed to make it through without adding any moisture to the environment. I am praying that no mold takes over before we get another dehumidifier.
The rain brings out the extremes in craziness, laughter, and moodiness. We have had an interesting mix of personalities running around in here with large amounts of energy. Our adventures for the moment seem a little less dream-like. An example: We woke up one morning to the drum of the rain and began to put away the stuff strewn all over the floor psuedo-drying from a small leak in one of the windows. It was pure chaos trying to maneuver around one another with only a few square inches of free floor space to step on. Amidst the activity, someone wanted warm water and proceeded to clear things off the stove. Included in the clearing was an entire pumpkin pie. Door mat Two is out in the rain after being washed of its treat.
A Break in the Rain
As I mentioned, we did get a break on Sunday to hike up in the mountains to see some waterfalls. The waterfalls themselves were nothing overly spectacular, but it was so good to get out in the fresh air. We soaked up what little sun made it through the trees and got some of our wiggles out.
