We went on an eight mile round trip hike to Observation Point today. Starting early to avoid the sweltering heat, we took the six forty-five shuttle bus to the trail head. Most of the four miles up was steep switchbacks, paved roughly most of the time as it was old. Then about three miles up the trail leveled out and became sandy. Finally we reached the top and I was disappointed that the view was not as spectacular as I expected. The hike was very fun, though it was not as challenging as I visioned it. We have two more days here during which we will hike the Zion Narrows. The Zion Narrows is a hike through the Virgin river. We will be hiking in the water the whole time! It sounds very fun and I am looking forward to it.
